Indonesia is a country that surprises you again and again. With thousands of islands scattered throughout the archipelago, it feels like you can explore endlessly. From the green rice paddies of Bali to the imposing volcanoes of Java, each place has its own unique charm that you won’t soon forget.

Discover the diversity of Indonesia
Indonesia is a melting pot of cultures and traditions visible everywhere-from the elaborate temples of Borobudur and Prambanan to the lively Balinese dances and ancient ceremonies. It is a country where you can literally and figuratively get a taste of diversity: the colorful markets such as Pasar Beringharjo in Yogyakarta and Pasar Badung in Bali give you a glimpse of everyday life, full of smells, tastes and sounds that immediately grip you.

But you will discover the real Indonesia in nature. Whether you walk through the rice terraces of Bali, explore the misty rainforests of Kalimantan, or come face to face with a Komodo dragon in Komodo National Park, here nature feels truly magical. The beaches invite relaxation, whether you choose the popular coastlines of Bali or the remote and pristine islands of Raja Ampat. Do you love snorkeling or diving? Then the coral reefs of Bunaken are the place to be.

Indonesia also has a rich history that can be found everywhere. Visit the ancient city of Yogyakarta, where tradition and modernity go hand in hand, or discover the remnants of the mighty Srivijaya empire on Sumatra. Everywhere you feel the past still present in everyday life. This country will not leave you unmoved. Indonesian hospitality and warmth make you feel welcome everywhere, whether you get lost in a bustling city or seek peace and quiet in a small village. And the food? Every meal is an adventure in itself, with dishes that introduce you to the country’s many flavors. Indonesia is more than a destination-it is an experience that keeps drawing you in. It is a place where adventure, tranquility, culture and nature come together, and where you discover something new every time you return. Located close to the equator, Indonesia has a tropical climate and can basically be visited year-round. Generally, the best time to visit is from May to September during the dry season. The rainy season, which generally runs from October to April, can sometimes bring heavy rains, but temperatures remain warm.

In Indonesia’s major cities, such as Jakarta and Surabaya, buses, trains and cabs are available. For shorter distances, there are also bajajs (three-wheeled motor vehicles) and ojeks (motorcycle cabs). Ferries run between islands, and domestic flights are also available. Services such as Grab and Gojek also offer transportation by car and motorcycle.

Indonesian cuisine is hugely diverse and rich in flavors. Try Nasi Goreng, a popular fried rice dish, or Satay, grilled meat skewers. For a sweet treat, try colorful rice desserts such as Klepon. Also, don’t forget to try local fruits such as Durian and Mangosteen.

One of the biggest holidays in Indonesia is Lebaran (also known as Idul Fitri), which marks the end of Ramadan. During this time, many people may travel to visit their families, so it is good to take this into account when planning your trip. Other important holidays include Independence Day (Aug. 17) and Nyepi (Balinese New Year), which is celebrated with a day of silence.
